Ever since I first met this gorgeous family, I knew we’d have a great session. Baby Taylor looked so dreamy throughout her session, and mom and dad were all smiles as they were able to take a break and gaze at their beautiful new daughter. I had the pleasure of brainstorming and organizing the shoot with Taylor’s parents, and I loved the result of putting our minds together.
For this newborn session, we wanted to do a mixture of formal shots and candid shots, with a palette of light pinks, white, and spring greens. We kept the wardrobe simple and classic, with floral headbands, swaddles, and ruffle bottoms. And the backdrops sweet and clean, whites and greens, for Taylor to lay in, blissfully asleep.
There’s not a cuter sight than two wonderful parents gazing down together at their little girl, filled with the love and joy only parents can have. It’s a sight you’ll want to capture forever, and now Taylor’s parents can look back on this gorgeous moment forever!

I always love a session where I can try something new! Baby girl Madeline’s middle name is Iris, which was also her grandmother’s name. Madeline’s mom reached out to me prior to the session and asked if we could incorporate her husband’s back tattoo of an iris into a portrait with Madeline. After some research, I chose the pose that I thought would show off both the baby and the tattoo well. Dad was actually surprised to find out when they arrived that he would be doing a shirtless photo for this session, but he was a good sport.
It took longer than expected to pose Iris on his shoulder and his muscles are so big (LOL) that his hand could just barely reach her, but mom held his arm up at the elbow while we got her in position and then she spotted only a few inches away while we took the photos. I’m excited how it turned out!

I adore fall and have been waiting to use this beautiful colour for about a year, as most Mom’s want standard pink and purple for a girl. I cut a wrap from my drop and made a tie back using some beads and faux leafs! The hair on this little angel!

When it comes to taking photos of a baby with their family, I am a stronger believer in less is more. No need for props, beanbags, special outfits. All that is needed, is gorgeous light and baby in the arms of family that love him. Without the pressure of ‘being posed’ and allowed to be themselves, children are naturally giving, they want to interact with the baby and they want to be a part of getting their photo taken. I loved this session because it it all of this and more.
