The story behind this session…

Ever since I first met this gorgeous family, I knew we’d have a great session. Baby Taylor looked so dreamy throughout her session, and mom and dad were all smiles as they were able to take a break and gaze at their beautiful new daughter. I had the pleasure of brainstorming and organizing the shoot with Taylor’s parents, and I loved the result of putting our minds together.

For this newborn session, we wanted to do a mixture of formal shots and candid shots, with a palette of light pinks, white, and spring greens. We kept the wardrobe simple and classic, with floral headbands, swaddles, and ruffle bottoms. And the backdrops sweet and clean, whites and greens, for Taylor to lay in, blissfully asleep.

There’s not a cuter sight than two wonderful parents gazing down together at their little girl, filled with the love and joy only parents can have. It’s a sight you’ll want to capture forever, and now Taylor’s parents can look back on this gorgeous moment forever!

We swaddled her up in a white knit blankie next, with a white floral headband to crown Taylor as we laid her on a white backdrop.

She dreamed away as we posed her for the camera, lost in a white sea, looking as cute as a button.

We continued with the white theme, and Taylor easily transitioned into the bum up pose. So sweet!

... and precious face, eyelashes and lips.

Taylor was snug and comfy in the soft fabrics. I loved the color scheme of this scene, with the earthy tones and Taylor’s lovely skin tones blending into the perfect image.

We finished off the session by getting mom and dad in front of the camera, lovingly cradling Taylor in her pink swaddle.

I especially loved finding the perfect lighting for the scene, creating a soft glow around this precious newborn while giving her features plenty of light to see every little detail, like those cute little feet and tiny toes.

I then captured all the little details, such as her sweet hands...

For a different scene, we used spring green blankets, and filled a cute wood box from the studio's props.

We then swaddled Taylor in a light pink wrap with matching bow.

Session by: Looking Up Photography

My photographic journey began when I was a child growing up in Michigan. I adored flipping through old family albums, consumed by the magical nature of the photograph. Each image told me a story. I became obsessed with these keepsakes; sparking my passion for photography. Since then I’ve sought to master the art of preserving precious moments to bring to the future and share with others.

I developed my foundation for photography through various classes at the University of Michigan while I earned my bachelor’s degree. After graduating in 1994 I spent a year as a photo assistant with several leading Detroit-area commercial photographers. In 1995 I moved to Fairfield County Connecticut and continued to study photography at SUNY Purchase College. In 2007 I started my portrait photography business.

My inspirations for entering the world of newborn photography were the births of my son and daughter. While watching how quickly they grew and changed, I used my camera to help remember every bit of magic.

I decided to officially focus on maternity and newborn as a specialty when a dear friend had a baby in early 2015. Since that first newborn session I was hooked, and have since thrown myself into absorbing every resource available on the subject.

Today I am thrilled to be a premier Maternity and Newborn photographer in Connecticut. It is my passion and my calling.

I specialize in custom photography using soft and warm light. I capture a blend of traditional posed portraits and intimate up-close images newborns along with posed and candid interactions with parents and siblings.

All images are custom-styled and hand-edited to be timeless treasures. The end result is a beautiful gallery of classic, abiding family heirloom keepsakes.
