YOUR PHOTOS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOUR KIDS TOO

YOUR PHOTOS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOUR KIDS TOO

Oct 20, 2022 | APNPI Community, For Parents, Hiring a Professional Photographer

Written by: Amy Pazur The other morning, my daughter, Elliana, woke up and called me into her room. She was happy to be awake and happy to see me. Then, she started to talk about the picture on her dresser. It was a family photo we had taken when she was brand new!...

Session Spotlight: Mademoiselle Madeline – Northern VA newborn photography session

I always love a session where I can try something new! Baby girl Madeline’s middle name is Iris, which was also her grandmother’s name. Madeline’s mom reached out to me prior to the session and asked if we could incorporate her husband’s back tattoo of an iris into a portrait with Madeline. After some research, I chose the pose that I thought would show off both the baby and the tattoo well. Dad was actually surprised to find out when they arrived that he would be doing a shirtless photo for this session, but he was a good sport.

It took longer than expected to pose Iris on his shoulder and his muscles are so big (LOL) that his hand could just barely reach her, but mom held his arm up at the elbow while we got her in position and then she spotted only a few inches away while we took the photos. I’m excited how it turned out!

I adore fall and have been waiting to use this beautiful colour for about a year, as most Mom’s want standard pink and purple for a girl. I cut a wrap from my drop and made a tie back using some beads and faux leafs! The hair on this little angel!

When it comes to taking photos of a baby with their family, I am a stronger believer in less is more. No need for props, beanbags, special outfits. All that is needed, is gorgeous light and baby in the arms of family that love him. Without the pressure of ‘being posed’ and allowed to be themselves, children are naturally giving, they want to interact with the baby and they want to be a part of getting their photo taken. I loved this session because it it all of this and more.

Session Spotlight: Blessed with a little girl!

Session Spotlight: Blessed with a little girl!

Apr 22, 2019 | Educational Resources (members only), Latest Trends, Session Spotlight

I stopped offering family sessions last year and it was a really hard decision because there were so many families that I just love and being able to see their children grow every year was such a pleasure to see! But my heart really wasn’t in it and I didn’t think it was fair to my favorite clients to have a photographer that wasn’t 100% all in for their family session.

So imagine my surprise when one of the families who I’ve been photographing since 2015 sent an email asking if they could schedule a newborn session! They already had 2 little boys so I knew this session was extra special to them when they welcomed a girl into their family.

I pulled out the pink, grabbed everything girly and started stying their session and it really turned out to be one of my favorites. Not only did I get to see my favorite family, but after a slew of all boy sessions, I finally got to change things up and throw in some frilly wraps and bonnets in a session! 🙂
