APNPI Professional Recognitions for Newborn Photographers

At the heart of the APNPI, is our commitment to excellence and passion to both recognizing and enhancing professional development.

We offer a range of qualifications that are designed to reward the highest levels of professional excellence.

APNPI Safety Awareness Course

The APNPI Safety Awareness Course has been developed specifically to create awareness about the unique needs of infants in photography.  Note – this is not a certification.  We recommend all members take in person safety training and infant CPR in their local communities.

APNPI Certification

The APNPI Qualified Newborn Photographer (QNP) Certification aims to recognize competence and professional standard for those who earn their living as Newborn Photographers. It has been developed specifically for those working with the maternity, baby and newborn populations. It is designed to distinguish APNPI members from the hobbyists, increase safety awareness and serve as assurance of professional qualifications to new parents.

The APNPI Certification is rooted in our Code of Ethics, and is earned internationally as recognition of a photographer’s foundation, knowledge, competence, and professional standard.  Whether you are established or an emerging photographer, certification seals are designed to provide a specific title that serves to uphold professional status.  This is a quality assurance to clients and makes an excellent component in your marketing.  Now available to Newborn Photographers around the world!

APNPI Accreditations

Accreditation in a category is a recognition beyond that of the QNP Certified Photographer.  It’s a recognition of exceptional quality of photography and artistic mastery in a particular photographic niche.

Accreditation in a category is a recognition beyond that of the QNP Certified Photographer.  It’s among the higher level recognitions, representing an above average quality of photographic artistry.

Accreditations are earned by submitting a portfolio in a given category and having it judged by a live panel of judges.  Judging events are exciting to watch and always full of learning opportunities to guide a photographer in their next steps of their artistic journey.

Accreditation can be earned in the following categories:

Maternity

Birth Photography

Fresh 48

Newborn – posed

Newborn – Naturally posed newborns.

Newborn Lifestyle – In home.

Newborn Environmental – Outdoors

Macro Imagery

Sitters

Family & Baby

Accreditation is achieved by:

  • Successfully completing the APNPI Safety Course.
  • Successfully holding your QNP Certification.
  • Submitting 12 images in a chosen category to an APNPI Judging Panel.

Holding accreditation demonstrates the member as a specialist in his or her chosen field.

APNPI Designations

APNPI Designations celebrate the highest levels of excellence and mastery amongst our photographers. They distinguish those who have showcased exceptional skill and mastery in their craft, along with a dedication to giving back to the industry.  Members of APNPI can strive to earn two significant titles: Craftsman and Master Designations.  These honors are not easily achieved, making them a mark of true dedication and talent.

APNPI provides members the opportunity to elevate their professional standing through earning designations. These designations are a testament to their superior skills and knowledge, enabling them to stay ahead in their profession. Not only do these designations provide an impressive advantage in marketing their business, but they also justify being competitive in the top-tier of their pricing. By securing a designation, members can provide concrete proof to their clients that they are indeed receiving the best possible service.

Currently, APNPI offers two levels of designation. These varying levels provide a pathway for members to continuously improve and reaffirm their commitment to professional excellence. This structure further highlights the organization’s commitment to supporting its members in their professional growth and development.

The two levels of designation currently include:

Craftsman of Newborn Portraiture (CrNP)
