FAQs on Accreditation
What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a credential that recognizes a photographer's professional skills, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence.
Why should I get accredited?
Accreditation enhances your credibility, helps you stand out in the industry, and builds trust with clients. It’s a way to validate your skills and show your dedication to your craft.
What are the benefits of being accredited?
- Customized accreditation badges to showcase your achievement.
- Featured listings in professional directories.
- Increased visibility and trust among clients.
- Opportunities for press coverage and professional recognition.
What’s the accreditation process like?
The process typically involves submitting a portfolio of work to a panel of live APNPI Judges who will evaluate your work and provide comments what is going well and suggestions for areas of improvement.
What happens if my portfolio isn’t accepted?
If your portfolio doesn’t meet the requirements, you’ll receive feedback to help you improve. You can revise and resubmit until you meet the standards.
Can accreditation help me attract more clients?
Absolutely. Clients often view accreditation as a mark of professionalism and trustworthiness, making it easier to build your client base.
Do I need to be a full-time photographer to get accredited?
No, accreditation is open to photographers at all career stages—whether you’re part-time, full-time, or just starting.
Are there pre-requisites to applying for Accreditation?
Yes, members need to first complete the Safety Course and their QNP Certification.
What kind of support is available during the process?
APNPI members can tap into complimentary mentorship that is designed to help guide you through the process of getting accredited. Mentors will typically help you select images for your portfolio, make suggestions on what the judges may or may not like, and help you find resources you might need.
Can I get accredited in more than one area of photography?
Yes! APNPI accreditation programs allow photographers to specialize in multiple categories.
